Electronic Mayhem

I am making this page as of 02/15/2008 as a reference for myself
and for information purposes for the over 1 billion people who
ask me day in and day out what I use to record my videos.

10 megs of pictures are loading because lost my photo editor and I
am too lazy right now to bother to look for another one and shrink
the pictures. Maybe in the future I will.

I like Garfield.

Uh, a trashcan, some plastic drawer crap, and a filing cabinet?
What do these 3 things have in common with electronics?
That's right, nothing.

Behind the scenes.

What is all that wiring and why is there a bottle of wine on the floor?
Wires are not important, what connects the wires is.
And I don't have a better place for the wine.

This is a Combat Command hub. I originally got it for linking multiple
Xboxes together, until I realised that you can link any ethernet-thing
and not have it affect firewalls or routers.

Inputs from -->> Xbox, Xbox 360, Vaio, Pavilion
Outputs to -->> Linksys Router

What is all that crap?
This is called the fun part.

I am currently running 3 GE audio/video switchers (manual).

PAY ATTENTION

My Xbox and Xbox 360 are both plugged into the switcher in the middle.
Switcher 1 outputs to switcher 2.
Lets recap:

Switcher 1 -- inputs from Xbox and Xbox 360
Switcher 1 -- outputs to switcher 2

My Playstation 2, Wii, Xbox, and Xbox 360 now are all plugged
into switcher 2. Switcher 2 outputs to the tv.

The tv outputs to the audio/video distribution amplifier.

What is that?

Try to imagine a device that takes 1 input and splits that
signal multiple ways (i.e. play Gears of War on multiple tvs at once).

Do you need it? Probably not, but I do and you will see why.

Now that all devices are wired to this distrubution amp,
where do I want to send this signal?
The obvious answer is to the video capturing device so I can
make leet videos, but what am I missing?

Ah yes, audio.

I run 3 different things that need audio. 2 computers and a tv.

This is where switcher 3 and 1 output from the distribution amp comes in.
The first output from the distribution amp is going to be audio only.
This output will go into switcher 3. Accompanying the tv's audio will
be the audio from each computer.

Let's recap:

Switcher 3 -- inputs only audio from computer 1, computer 2, distribution amp.
Switcher 3 -- outputs to stereo.

Panasonic SA-AK610-----------Yamaha YST-SW105

Yes, I am running dual/triple subs.

Why is this stereo pimp? It has dual casette decks and a 5 cd changer.

Back to the distribution amp!

Where does the other output go to?

To the video capturing device!

OMG, NISMOJOE, WUT KAPCH00R K4RD DEW U UZE?

I DO NOT USE A CAPTURE CARD.

A/V INPUTS DIRECT TO MOTHERBOARD

Programs I use.

If I capture on the Pavilion, I use something called Cyberlink PowerDirector v6.
I'm still testing the capturing on it, not sure if I'm satisfied yet.
If I capture on the Vaio, it is a program called Giga Pocket which I am led to believe
can only used with Vaios and comes preloaded on them.
I record in mpeg format then use a progam called TMPGenc to cut out the clips I want.

I am no longer editing on the Vaio. I was using some old ass version of Windows Movie Maker.
From now on when I edit on the Pavilion, I will be using a combination of a much newer version
of Windows Movie Maker, PowerDirector v6, and Sony Vegas Movie Studio 7.0 Platinum.
